Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS)
Trace Analytics uses the latest in analytical technology, the GC-MS. The GC-MS is used for the analyses of air, gases and oil vapor among other things and it is certified with NIST-traceable standards. Our GC-MS system was upgraded to the latest industry standards in the Fall of 2009. The upgrade has proven to be beneficial with improved reliability, cross-platform compatibility (PC and Macintosh), improved hardware diagnostic capability, and ease-of-use.
We use the GC-MS with an autosampler to analyze about 200 samples per day. This automation provides for superior accuracy and precision. It also allows us to perform a wide variety of calibration standards (26 each morning) and 3 calibration standards every 10th sample throughout the entire run of samples.
Although the "real" work is done inside the GC-MS, we thought you might enjoy seeing how the autosampler processes the source and ambient bottles from your AirCheckTM analyses.
